Hey everyone, and welcome back to the Everyday Style Icon Podcast. I'm your host, tiffany. I hope you guys are having a great summer and enjoyed your time off that we all had. I hope you were able to at least take a long weekend. Well, today I want to talk to you about unlocking your true style potential. So, whether you're starting out in your career or you're someone like me who's looking to reinvent your professional image, then you're in the right place, because today I'll be discussing my top three reasons why a corporate closet makeover can help you not only discover and develop your unique style, but also help with boosting your confidence and career all in the process.

So let's dive on in and get started. So number one is boosting confidence and your professional presence, because they do both go hand in hand. So let's dive into about confidence first. So when we walk into a room, our appearance speaks volumes. Not only does it speak volumes, but it speaks for and before you can even say hello or introduce yourself. So when we're wearing clothes that fit and reflect our personality, it can significantly boost our self-esteem. So a closet makeover will help you identify pieces that not only look good but also make you feel good as well. And when we are looking to get dressed and develop our style, we always want to pick clothes that make us look good but, most importantly, make us feel good, because when we feel good, that gives us and helps build the confidence that we need. So when we're walking into any room, any boardroom, any meeting, we are prepared and we are going to be our cool, calm and collective selves, because we're confident in what we're doing and what we're going to go through.

Now here's what I want you to imagine the impact of walking into a meeting wearing an outfit that makes you feel powerful and put together so your confidence shines through. It affects how you carry yourself, because if you're in comfortable clothes, you're going to walk like it, but if you are dressed and it is your personal style, you are going to walk into a room as if you own it. It will also help you with interacting with others. Case in point interviews. When you're comfortable in your clothes and they make you feel good, you're going to go in there and knock that interview out of the park as well, because they are looking at you, thinking can I put this individual in a key place? Whether it's a director, whether it's an administrative assistant, whether you're in tech, no matter what, it is how you, how you are perceived, is magnified just by how you dress and look, and they are keeping in mind. Not only can she do the task, but can we put her in front of other people and will they be able to perceive her in such a way that it's like you know what? She's the person for the job? So when you're confident in your attire, you're more likely to take on challenges, you're more likely to speak up in meetings, seize opportunities that you may have not have even considered, and also paving the way for your career growth. So this is why I always say, when you're working on your career goals, your style development goals should also be part of that as well, because it will actually help get you there just a little bit faster.

So number two is enhancing your professional image and brand, and one of the things that we are now doing these days is creating our own personal brand. So the concept of professional image and personal brand in today's corporate world. Your style is an extension of your brand. So let me repeat that one more time your style is an extension of your brand. So a well curated wardrobe it reflects professionalism, attention to detail and a clear sense of self, and it sends a message about your work ethic and how you want to be perceived in your industry. So there it goes again. How someone perceives you is critical, because if they perceive you as not having good work, ethic can actually shine through in how you dress. So it is very key that we keep this in mind when we're developing our style, among other things.

So how can a corporate closet makeover help you with this? This is going to involve assessing your current wardrobe and making strategic additions that align with your career goals and your industry standards. So if you're in finance, for example, what is the industry standard in finance? And you want to keep that in mind when you're building and developing your style, of course adding your own flair, but that's going to be your baseline when you're trying to create a style that you want For an executive assistant, for example because I am out here looking and thinking about pivoting again in my career. So what is the baseline for an executive assistant? And I will have to start. That will give me a starting point of how to develop my personal and my corporate style, as in the realm of being an executive assistant. So, with by doing these, you can create a cohesive and polished look and I don't like the word polished, I don't even know why I use that word and this look will communicate reliability and competence all at the same time.

Now, your enhanced professional image. It can open doors to new opportunities that you never saw, coming from promotions to networking prospects, as people tend to trust and invest in those who present themselves well. This is why how we dress is important, because it can help open doors that you may never thought able, that would be accessible to you and you've seen it and this is the thing too. We've seen this. We have seen individuals who are well dressed, who may not have the credentials that you have, who are well-dressed but get the opportunities that should be yours, and they get it just on how they look. So imagine your credentials that are top-notch and your style, which will be top-notched. You combine those two together and, baby, you are off to the races and you can actually go in and obtain and get the style not the style, but the career and the opportunities that you have always been looking for. So always keep in mind that they both go your personal brand and your style, credentials, all of that together. All of that goes hand in hand, which makes for a winning and powerful combination of that goes hand in hand, which makes for a winning and powerful combination.

Last but not least, it helps with streamlining your decisions making and reducing stress, and sometimes people call these uniforms. The first person that comes to mind with this for me would be Steve Jobs. He always wore the black turtleneck, the jeans jeans and the tennis shoes all the time, because he was making decisions based on how to run Apple and products and services that they would offer. He didn't have time to worry about what the heck he was going to wear every day. I think Mark Zuckerberg does the same thing. I think he wears black t-shirts and jeans.

Now, keep in mind, these are elevated looks. They are not target t-shirts or target jeans. They are investing in quality pieces when it comes to this uniform. But, fear not, you don't have to get that extreme when it comes to streamlining your decision-making process when getting dressed. So with this, it will help you with times that you stand in front of your closet and you're like what am I going to wear, and you have like 10 minutes to get dressed and out the door. It'll stop you from stressing over what to wear. So this will allow you to simplify this daily decision-making process, saving you time and, of course, reducing stress.

And this is where your core wardrobe comes in, because with a core wardrobe, everything kind of flows and goes together and match. You can mix and match and shop your wardrobe with ease, which takes out the wondering of does this color go together or does this pattern go together or does this pattern go together? Everything is going to effortlessly be cohesive and go together. So by creating a collection or your core wardrobe that is versatile and well coordinated, you eliminate guesswork from your morning routine and your your morning may go a little bit more smoothly and you can quickly put together outfits that are both stylish and appropriate for your professional setting. This not only makes your morning smoother, but it also ensures that you always look your best with minimal or little effort. Little effort the result we start our day on a positive note, with more time and mental energy to focus on the work and the personal growth that we need to accomplish for the day.

So, with all of this being said, a closet makeover is more than just updating your wardrobe. It's also cleaning out your closet, too, but the main purpose is it's about unlocking your true style potential. It starts in your closet. Once we begin to understand that your style starts and ends in your closet, we will be much better for it. By boosting your confidence and enhancing your professional image and streamlining your daily routines, you set yourself up for success in your career.

It's one of the tools that is probably the most powerful when used correctly. It is your secret weapon and it is also the most underutilized tool that you have in your arsenal box.
